R&D PROJECT MANAGER
The Position
You will be responsible for managing several activities of the Research Department.
Responsibilities will include management of Molecular Biology, Mammalian Expression and
Protein Chemistry activities. Application of diverse techniques and molecular biology,
mammalian expression, biochemistry, and biophysical characterization methods will be the
major emphasis of this position. Other responsibilities will include Project Management
directed toward the development of bispecific antibody products.
Responsibilities
• Manage Molecular Biology, Mammalian Expression, and Protein Chemistry activities
• Manage planning and balance resources to support multiple development projects
• Project Leadership role for the main programs of the company
• Act as a point person with the external collaborators (CRO and academia)
• Contribute to project planning, interpretation of experimental results
• Participating in authoring of external grant proposals
• Working knowledge of:
o devising cloning strategies,
o performing mammalian expression (particularly in CHO cells) employing
transient and/or stable expression protocols,
o characterization techniques for purified monospecific and bispecific
antibodies and proteins (SDS-PAGE, Blotting techniques, chromatography,
ELISA, the possible presence of posttranslational modifications, Digital
Scanning Calorimetry, fluorometric techniques)
o characterization employing the diverse biophysical methods (BiaCore, FACS,
etc)
• Evaluation of technologies and techniques
• Regular written and oral reporting to senior management of experimental results
and proposals for subsequent research activities
Requirements
• PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related disciplines and independent
postgraduate research experience of 5+ years; industrial experience is required
• Demonstrated knowledge of antibody design, structure, and antibody products
optimization and development
• Knowledge of antibody screening, lead selection and characterization
• Demonstrated knowledge of Cloning techniques, Mammalian Expression (especially
in CHO), Protein Separations, and Protein Analytics
• Ability to conduct multiple projects in a dynamic environment while delivering
agreed milestones and adhering to timelines
• Experience in managing external collaborations (academic and/or industrial)
